The human entourage follows in a ship called In Amber Clad with the specific task of preventing the activation of the Halo and the assassination of The High Prophet called Regret present in the ship.

The dishonored contract elite is given a opening to redeem himself and assigned the name of Arbiter. He finally becomes aware of the danger that the Halos present to the galaxy and decides to work towards the deactivation of these super-weapons.

Meanwhile, the Flood, a parasitic race infects the city of High Charity owned by the Covenant. The Arbiter along with others manages to prevent the activation of the Halo. The unexpected loss of power in the Halo makes it send a signal to the remaining Halo's and the game ends on a moving note thus setting up the story for Halo 3.
